Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, toss the sliced chicken with olive oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika, oregano, kosher salt, black pepper, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce. Let it marinate for about 10 minutes.

Cooking

  • Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sauté the onion and bell pepper until softened, about 5-7 minutes, then set aside.
  • In the same skillet, cook the marinated chicken until browned and cooked through, approximately 5-7 minutes.
  • Add the sautéed vegetables back into the skillet along with the butter, mixing until melted and well combined.
  • Divide the mixture into portions and place a slice of provolone cheese on each. Cover for 1-2 minutes to allow the cheese to melt.
  • Scoop the mixture into toasted hoagie rolls and serve with optional condiments like mayonnaise or hot sauce.

Notes

Marinate the chicken longer to enhance flavors. Feel free to add mushrooms or jalapeños for extra texture and flavor. Using a cast-iron skillet can help achieve a nice sear on the chicken.
