Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan, lining it with parchment paper.
  • Pat the pitted cherries dry with paper towels and toss them with 1 tablespoon of flour.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • In another bowl, whisk the eggs, yogurt (or sour cream), milk, melted butter, vanilla extract, and almond extract until smooth.
  • Gently combine the wet and dry mixtures, avoiding overmixing, then fold in the floured cherries.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and sprinkle sliced almonds on top.
  • Bake for 55-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Gazing

  • For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, almond extract, and salt until smooth.

Notes
