Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Butter a 9x13-inch baking dish generously.
  • Tear the day-old croissants into large pieces and place them in the baking dish.
  • Scatter 3/4 cup of chocolate chips over the torn croissants.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, brown sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  • Pour the custard mixture over the croissants, pressing them down gently to soak every morsel.
  • Allow the mixture to sit for 20-30 minutes at room temperature, or refrigerate overnight.
  • After soaking, sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup of chocolate chips on top.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 38-45 minutes, until the top is puffed and golden brown.
  • Let the dish rest for about 10 minutes before serving.
  • Serve warm, dusted with powdered sugar and offer fresh berries or a drizzle of maple syrup or whipped cream.

Notes
