Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 3 medium medium firm apples Choose varieties like Honeycrisp, Fuji, Gala, or Granny Smith for the best results
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice To brighten and enhance the apple flavors
  • 1.5 teaspoons ground cinnamon For an aromatic, warming touch
  • 1 teaspoon maple sugar or brown sugar Optional, for added sweetness
  • a tiny pinch fine salt fine salt To balance the sweetness and enhance flavors

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 200°F (95°C) and line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Wash and dry the apples. If you prefer, core them and slice them into even 1/8-inch rounds.
  • In a mixing bowl, lightly brush or toss the apple slices with lemon juice, then sprinkle both sides with cinnamon, fine salt, and add sugar if desired.
  • Arrange the apple slices on the prepared baking sheets in a single layer, ensuring they don’t overlap.

Baking

  • Bake for 1 hour, then gently flip each slice and continue baking for another 1 to 1 ½ hours until they turn golden brown and crispy.
  • Once finished, turn off the oven and leave the door cracked open for 20 minutes to allow the chips to cool gradually.
  • Transfer the apple chips to a wire rack to cool completely, then store them in an airtight container.

Notes

For an extra crunch, consider using a dehydrator. You can experiment with spices like nutmeg or ginger. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
