  • 12 small rolls small sweet rolls, preferably Hawaiian-style Use fresh sweet rolls for the best texture.
  • 1/2 cup marshmallow fluff This will be used to fill the rolls.
  • 3 large eggs These provide the custard-like coating.
  • 3/4 cup half-and-half Can be substituted with dairy-free milk for a dairy-free option.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Adds flavor to the custard mixture.
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon Provides a warming aroma.
  • 1/8 teaspoon fine salt Enhances overall flavor.
  • 3 tablespoons salted butter Divided for cooking the bites.
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar Used in the cocoa sugar mix.
  • 2 tablespoons hot chocolate mix You can substitute with cocoa powder mixed with sugar.
  • 1 cup warm hot chocolate For dipping the bites.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Separate each sweet roll horizontally, leaving one edge attached to create a pocket for the filling.
  • Fill each roll with about 2 teaspoons of marshmallow fluff, gently pressing it closed.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs, half-and-half, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until smooth and creamy.
  • In a shallow dish, mix together granulated sugar and hot chocolate mix.

Cooking

  • Dip each stuffed roll into the egg mixture for about 10-15 seconds, allowing excess to drip off.
  • Heat half of the butter in a skillet over medium heat and add half of the stuffed rolls. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  • Repeat with remaining rolls and butter.
  • Roll cooked bites in the cocoa sugar mixture and serve immediately.

Notes

For varied flavors, use different types of chocolate for hot chocolate. Toppings can include whipped cream or crushed candy canes for a festive touch.
