Smoothie Ingredients

  • 1 cup strongly brewed hibiscus tea, chilled Brew by steeping hibiscus tea bags or dried flowers.
  • 1.5 cups frozen pineapple chunks Adds sweetness and creamy texture.
  • 1 medium ripe banana Can be fresh or frozen.
  • 0.5 cup coconut water For hydration and freshness.
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice For a zesty twist.
  • 1 teaspoon agave syrup or honey Optional, for extra sweetness.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Brew the Tea: Start by steeping two hibiscus tea bags or two tablespoons of dried hibiscus flowers in one cup of boiling water for about five to seven minutes. Allow the tea to cool completely in the refrigerator.
  • Combine Ingredients: Pour the chilled hibiscus tea into a blender, then add the frozen pineapple chunks and ripe banana. Then, add the coconut water and lime juice.
  • Blend Away: Blend on low speed to combine the ingredients, then gradually increase to high speed. Blend for approximately 45 to 60 seconds until smooth and creamy.
  • Adjust Consistency and Sweetness: If too thick, add more coconut water. For sweetness, add agave syrup or honey to taste and blend briefly.
  • Serve and Garnish: Pour the smoothie into glasses and enjoy immediately. Optionally garnish with fresh pineapple slices or a sprig of mint.

Notes

For a thicker consistency, freeze your banana beforehand. You can also experiment with fruit combinations such as mango or spinach. Preparing the hibiscus tea a day in advance can save time.
