  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil adding a nutty aroma

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce providing umami depth
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce adding a hint of sweetness
  • 1 teaspoon fish sauce enhancing the savory notes
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar balancing the flavors beautifully
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes offering a gentle heat
  • 1 cup fresh Thai basil leaves, chopped contributing a fresh, herbal essence
  • 1/2 red bell pepper finely diced adding color and crunch
  • 2 green onions sliced for a mild onion flavor
  • 1 head butter lettuce, leaves separated and washed providing a crispy wrap
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice brightening the dish

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Heat sesame oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until fragrant.
  • Add minced garlic and grated ginger to the hot oil and sauté for about 30 seconds.
  • Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, about 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Stir in soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, brown sugar, and crushed red pepper flakes. Let simmer for 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Add finely diced red bell pepper and cook for an additional 1 to 2 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and mix in freshly chopped Thai basil, sliced green onions, and lime juice.
  • Spoon filling into butter lettuce leaves to create wraps.
  • Serve immediately, drizzled with chili paste if desired.

Notes

Consider adding toasted peanuts for texture or using other fresh herbs such as cilantro or mint. Experiment with proteins; ground chicken or turkey can be excellent alternatives.
